Jonathan Ive has long been credited for being the principle designer for many of Apple’s iconic products. Ive joined Apple in 1992 and has been responsible for the design of the unibody MacBook Pro, iPod, iPhone and iPad. His name was even thrown around as a possible successor to Steve Jobs in 2007.

Will there emerge a commission in this city that leads the city manager to a process of organizational reform, tight budgets, no new taxes and fees and suspend irrational spending on unafordable capital projects like redecorating Miracle Mile.

The Coral Gables municipal election ballot is now set with 11 candidates, including two incumbents, competing for three seats in the April 12 municipal election. Deadline for candidates to qualify was noon Friday, Feb. 25.

Three candidates are running for mayor; six candidates are running for the Group 4 seat, which is being vacated by incumbent Wayne E. “Chip” Withers; and two candidates are running for the Group 5 seat.

Candidates have already amassed nearly $375,000 in campaign contributions.

Chamber of Commerce Doesn’t Represent “Green” Business

The Chamber of Commerce would like us to take the risk of the severe impacts from Climate Change.  They often hide behind the “green” symbol while promoting unscientific thinking about the future of the planet.

The Chamber, described by 350.org founder Bill McKibben as the “power plant” of “money pollution” in Washington, DC, has led lobbying efforts to block action on climate change for decades.

Because of its pro-pollution, anti-science stance, the Chamber is threatening American prosperity — its supposed mission. Several companies, including Apple, Exelon, and Pacific Gas & Energy, have quit the lobbying group over its climate denial. In the Tom Dispatch, McKibben explains how 350.org plans to expose the split between real American businesses and the multinational polluters that fund the “U.S.” Chamber of Commerce, with the simple message, “The U.S. Chamber Doesn’t Speak For Me“:

Banks in Florida are mostly Weak

Many local Banks in Florida have questionable capital ratios.  This is product of outrageous housing loans and practices.

When it comes to strength and solvency, Florida is among the worst states for banking, according to a new report released by Weiss Ratings.

Nearly 80 percent of the 532 banks and thrifts in Florida are considered weak and have received a D-plus or lower Weiss Financial Strength rating.
