Infections exploding, deaths creeping up, hospitalizations up.
Politicians awakening and demanding face masks, social distancing especially in restaurants and stores.

Here in Florida we have a weak Governor DeSantis who is willing to sacrifice the health of residents to business interests, rather than opening the state slowly with enough testing and contact tracing to control the infection rate.
Mayor Gimenez of Miami-Dade County, the state leader in COVID-19 has weakly followed the lead of the state and federal government.
The University of Miami is opening its campus in the City of Coral Gables, which will surely add to local community Covid infections.

Clearly, in terms of infections, no sign of declining deaths, weak testing and contact testing in South Florida counties, Florida is a US hot spot along with several other states.
There is a willingness to have a POLITICAL OPENING with acceptable numbers of deaths and weakly supervised openings of restaurants, beaches, bars, churches…
There is evidence that Governor DeSantis wants to keep POTUS happy and Mayor Gimenez, Miami-Dade County, wants to keep the governor happy.
Citizens cannot count on state and local governments to prioritize health safety now or in there future compared to political and business owners’ interests.

Estimates from today’s Miami Herald, “In Florida, known cases are doubling every 20.7 days.” Florida is in trouble with this rate.
Similar doubling rates are occurring in Palm Beach County and only slightly higher in Broward and Miami-Dade Counties.
